What
do I do on my days off?
I was asked the other day, if I did photography full
time and the answer is yes. I may not be running around taking pictures every
day and I may have another job at a Call Center but it does not mean I don’t
put in a minimum of forty hours in my photography.
I work to full time jobs. I work at Waste Management
from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm and when I get home I edit images, set up new marketing
ad’s, meeting with new clients, fix or edit my website, edit blog post, or
write new blog post. I take online photography and business classes to better
myself as a business owner and photographer. Then when I do have
sessions/shoots, I work those.
So, from 6:00 pm to 10:00pm I working on those things
unless I have a shoot after work. On the weekends, I tend to have a wedding,
newborn, senior, family, or children’s shoot to do. My weekends consist of
nothing by photography. Yes, I give myself breaks to be able to get my house
hold chores done or spend time with my family or just give me some me time.
My point is I don’t just have one full time job, but I
have two full time jobs. I work eight hours in the morning with one job and
work four hours at night for my photography. I have my weekends of with my
morning job and will work up to ten hours each day to edit picture, make new
ad’s, edit contracts or send out new contracts.
Do
I burn myself out?
YES! I do it all the time and that is when I pull away
for a few hours or a day to read, or spend time with my love ones.
How
do I keep up with all of it?
Easy, I’m a planner.
Planning is key. I write down all my deadlines and insure that I am not
behind.
Do
I ever get behind?
Of course, I am only human. I am not wonder women. I
don’t have children, but there are events that come up the do post-pone my work
flow.
What
are my favorite things to do on my days off? When I get them.
I read, I love reading and writing stories. I didn’t
start reading until two years ago, when I got sick and was stuck at home and in
bed. I didn’t read and write because it was always difficult for me. Some know
by I am dyslexic and my b’s become d’s and my q’s become p’s, and don’t get me
started on number! So, having this disability, I had a difficult time with
grammar and any English activity out there. That is where I fell in love with
Art (painting, drawing, photography). Which
I also do and are one of my favorite things to do on my day off.
Side
note:
When I am not photographing Clients, I do landscape photography. I like to
drive around locations with my music playing in my ears, taking in breath for
myself and just take picture.
I can’t say being sick for so long was a horrible
thing because it gave me another passion that I had no clue I loved so much. I
now can devour a book in a day and it is one of my favorite things to do.
Reading the way, I do now has inspired me to be a better person inside and out.
It has shown me that I may have struggle for almost 25 years with reading and
still do but doesn’t mean it will always be a struggle.
Besides, reading, writing, painting, drawing and
taking landscape pictures. I love spending time with my family. I try to have
my nieces, cousins, brothers at my home as often as possible.
There is nothing better than having a home filled with
love, laugher and joy. It fells the heart in so many ways that other things
can’t.
My favorite thing in the world to do on my days off
are spending time with my family.

Why
do I work so much?
I love what I do. It may be a lot of work but they say
when you do something you love it doesn’t feel like work. I may be in my office
or on my laptop in another room working but every time I work or finish
something I am always very proud of myself. Every image or project I work on
and finish feels me with such pride that I just don’t see how I could ever not
want to work as much as I do.
