Family Portraits coming up? Need help planning?

Do you have family portraits coming up soon?

If so, here are some great steps to help you prepare for the big day.

1. Find a great photographer! *Coughing Me!*

2. Talk to photographer.

- Don't just have the meet and greet and end it there. You want your pictures to be the best, so do we.
That is why we are hear, you don't know if this shirt will clash with this shirt, ask us. Our goal is to insure that you have the best memory for the future.

- Do you have a location or did the photographer have a location. Ask.
This is important. If you have no clue where you are taking pictures then how do you know what to wear.

- There is nothing wrong with asking.

3. After speaking with your photographer, pick out your colors!

- Do they meet your standards.

- Will they go great on your wall...

Why your walls?

Do you have bright colors, yellows, blues, green, pinks or do you have darker colors or even neutral colors.

Do you plan to hang your pictures. Well of course you are!
- You want to make sure you are coordinating.

The best example I give to my clients when it comes to family pictures and according to your home are paint samples. https://www.pinterest.com/vmbowen14/color-palettes/

4. Got your colors, but don't know how to lay them or if they will look right.
Again!
Don't be afraid to ask your photographer. Take a picture and send it to them. *Acknowledge, not all photographers will be able to respond due to scheduling*

- Layer, When you layer outfits with a cute sweater or jacket, the pictures are given dimension and has a way of catching peoples eyes. With having layers, you are also able to strip those layers for a new outfit.

- Test them out. Go to the future location, do you like how they look around the area. Put them on your kids. Does that shirt look to big/small on them, are the pants to short or long. Try out your outfits a week before your shoot.

* Planning is key!*

THIS! ^ THIS RIGHT HERE!
Is a life saver!
Say you wanted to wear that special shirt but you didn't know what you wanted to go with it or how to match it. This helps you do that. Place that item you are looking forward to wearing, this system will help you find outfits that will coordinate to that style and provide you with the stores that carry them.

I also have examples of what to where on my pintrest. I have added links to help with outfits.
What to wear for a family photo - if you are planning on a classic family look, a matching color scheme is the way to go.

5. A day before the shoot!
Verify your appointment, location and check the weather.
Your photographer will do the same.
- Did it rain the day before?
- Do you need to wear boot instead of flats or nice dress shoes?
- Will it be cold?

6. Day of the shoot!
The day is here. Eat something! With all the excitement of the day and getting ready, we as humans forget to eat. Not only will you be tired, you will also be frustrated and if you fell this way then your children are feeling this way x 10. With a good nap before and a full tummy, your shoot will go a little more smoother.

7. Be engaged.
You will have the normal posing pictures but sometimes the best pictures are when you are more active with your family.
